The Adolescent Treatment Program at PEER Services offers a variety of early intervention, treatment and supportive services for: Youth and Families Information, assessment and referral Drug education Individual, group and family counseling Parent support we have a group that meets twice a month and we also provide individual support for parents and families. Intensive outpatient treatment teens receive a minimum of nine hours of group treatment per week. This highly structured level of care provides support and teaches young people new skills to achieve and maintain a drug-free lifestyle. As young people progress, their level of care is decreased to meet changing treatment needs. Referral to residential care/inpatient treatment care when needed. Aftercare for teens who are coming back into the community after having completed a residential substance abuse treatment program. Schools Assessment and case collaboration Alternative to suspension programs- many local schools encourage students who have violated the schools policy on the use and/or possession of mood-altering chemicals to enroll in this educational and skill-building program to reduce the likelihood of problems developing in the future Staff in-service training Speakers for health classes and parent groups Criminal Justice System Assessment and case collaboration Staff in-service training Reports on client progress Intervention and Treatment Services designed for 12-17 year old adolescents who are: At risk for using alcohol and other drugs Using alcohol and other drugs Impacted by anothers substance abuse Recovering and/or recently discharged from an inpatient program (May provide services for youth younger than 12 or older than 17 upon assessment.) --> back to top Assessment During assessment, trained clinical staff gather information from the adolescent, their parents and/or a referral source to assess the adolescents needs and level of involvement with alcohol and other drugs. Adolescents admitted to our program receive individually designed treatment plans, which may consist of: individual, group and family counseling, group education and drug testing. Family involvement is strongly encouraged. Treatment scholarships are available to assist those who are unable to pay full fee for services. Client confidentiality is protected by federal law. --> back to top Current Client Groups: Adolescent Programs at PEER Services Steps to Recovery is an adolescent group that covers areas relating to maintaining abstinence, developing coping skills, identifying problem areas in teens lives, working on decision making skills, identifying emotions, and using the group members as a source of support and insight. The group meets in the Glenview office on Thursdays from 4:00pm 5:30pm. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to intervene in the progression of substance abuse/dependency and assist teenagers and their families in achieving a healthy recovery. It is an accelerated method of treatment that fills the gap between traditional outpatient and residential care. The IOP meets four afternoons a week for a minimum of six weeks. It is a rotating series in which an individual can enter immediately upon completion of intake. The IOP consists of didactic lectures, skill-building sessions and therapy groups. The sessions help the client get connected to an outside support group, integrate didactic material and identify any problem areas the client may be experiencing. IOP clients are encouraged to attend 12-step support groups weekly and are encouraged to maintain involvement after completion of IOP. Individual and /or family sessions are also provided. Clients are also given random drug tests to help them abstain from mood-altering substances. IOP meets Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00pm 6:30pm and on Friday from 4:00pm 5:30pm in the Evanston office. F.A.C.T.S. is designed to provide a "safety net" for students who have violated their schools policy related to drug and alcohol use. F.A.C.T.S. is an eight- hour early intervention program designed to help students get back to school with the goal of learning from their experience. The program provides students and parents with accurate up-to-date information about drugs and their affects and the risks adolescents run when they use chemicals. Drug Education is a program designed for adolescents that includes structured exercises designed to help teens explore their values and attitudes about substance use and increase their knowledge about the risks involved in using. Up-to-date information on current drugs of abuse will be provided with a special focus on marijuana, alcohol and hallucinogens. Drug education meets one Wednesday night per month from 6:00pm 9:00pm. Parent Support is a program designed to provide parents accurate up-to-date information about drugs and their affects and the risks adolescents run when they use chemicals. The program will include parenting tips such as limit setting, curfews, and family communication. The program meets Wednesday evenings. --> back to top |
